Summary
Do you like design and migration stories? The emigration generation is looking for someone who wants to put together story cases in 'Canva'.Detailed description
Do you know your story?
The Emigration Generation is a Utrecht project in which we, together with children between 10 and 14 years old, look for the migration stories of Utrechters who came here from other countries through guest lessons at school. These 'grandparents' are interviewed, and the stories recorded by the children are shared as widely as possible with the aim of visualizing our shared history, generating attention for migration in general and the life stories of older migrants in general. special, connecting generations in the neighbourhood, prevention of prejudice and exclusion.
The students work on stories, drawings and poems that we place in a 'story suitcase'. These cases are used in exhibits, to make booklets, as social media posts and more. Do you like designing beautiful suitcases in the Canva program? Then we would like to get in touch with you.

🤝 Extra supportAbout De emigratie generatie
The emigration generation goes to schools, gives guest lessons there, and together with the students we talk to grandfathers and grandmothers in the neighborhood about their coming to the Netherlands, and their further life story.
The children turn these stories into a beautiful product (newspaper, poetry collection, poster ...) that is returned to the elderly during a festive moment. We also want to tell the stories we get permission to share in the neighborhood and in the city.
We also create stories with groups of migrant elderly. Together we recall memories, record them in words and images, and the elderly organize a festive gathering in which they share their own stories with their immediate environment; children, grandchildren, the neighborhood.
