Summary

The DigiTaalhuis is the starting point for beginning computer and language students. As a Digiwijs volunteer you support in learning to use the computer.

Detailed description

For those who cannot yet use a computer and cannot use the internet, Digiwijs 3.0 offers computer courses at various locations in the city of Utrecht. This opens the door to independently arranging matters and it provides access to a larger social network. In addition, Digiwijs organizes the DigiTaalhuis walk-in consultation hour together with the Utrecht Library and Taal Doet Meer

About the DigiTaalhuis walk-in consultation hour

For students who still have questions after the course, or who do not have the opportunity to practice at home, there is an opportunity to practice during the (free) DigiTaalhuis walk-in consultation hours in various libraries in Utrecht. Residents with digital questions are also welcome.

Volunteers from Digiwijs are there to support people who want to improve their digital (basic) skills, have a digital question, or want to orientate themselves on a computer course. In addition, there is a signpost from Taal Doet Meer and a library employee present.

The walk-in consultation hours take place in the libraries of Hoograven, Kanaleneiland, Leidsche Rijn Centrum, Neude, Overvecht and Zuilen.

What are you going to do?

During the walk-in consultation hours you provide support with various questions; one moment you are helping a Digiwijs student with an exercise on the computer and the next moment you are helping a local resident save a photo on his/her laptop, or create an email account.

The learning questions of the participants (mostly older people and speakers of other languages) are very diverse. The challenge for the volunteers is to provide everyone with what they need.

We are looking for someone who…

  • Affinity with the target group
  • Has patience and likes to explain something one on one
  • Is flexible and can respond to different learning questions
  • Can handle a computer and transfer his or her knowledge and skills (you don't have to be a computer expert!) and wants to help people to manage digital affairs independently
  • Weekly at least 2 hours of time and desire to support participants during a walk-in consultation hour DigiTaalhuis

We offer…

  • A welcome training to help you on your way
  • A committed team of volunteers and professionals
  • A challenging volunteer position with many social contacts
  • Training/coaching to develop yourself and gain more (didactic) skills
  • Meetings where you can exchange experiences with other teachers
  • A volunteer fee for your efforts
  • A nice addition to your resume

About Digiwijs 3.0

Learning to use the computer nearby

Computers are useful if you can do something with them. Not everyone is that handy. Digiwijs 3.0 helps anyone who has little or no use for computers and the internet.

Digiwijs 3.0 is a project of WIJ 3.0, an all-round organization for the activation of vulnerable people and reintegration into training or work.

In a course of Digiwijs 3.0 people learn to work with a computer. You can go to the practice walk-in to practice yourself. And in the theme lessons we focus on a certain aspect of computing.
