Summary
As a volunteer at Handjehelpen you offer children from a disadvantaged neighborhood a chance to participate again at schoolDetailed description
Many students in Utrecht were unable to go to school due to the corona crisis. The most vulnerable students are at risk of being particularly affected by this. Because they have a disability, have difficulty with language or because their parents cannot help them with homework. Even now that schools are reopening, support is still needed.
In the City Network, various volunteer organizations – including Handjehelpen –, the Municipality of Utrecht, schools in primary and secondary education, universities of applied sciences and the university are currently working together on equal opportunities.
Our volunteers and trainees offer help in the home situation to vulnerable families, in which, for example, autism, MID, illness or other concerns play a role. They help once a week with language and/or homework support, but also with; support in planning and organizing, offering structure and strengthening self-confidence in children who are very insecure. (Online) remote guidance is possible.

About Handjehelpen
Do you want to mean something to someone else? That is possible with us! At Handjehelpen we match volunteers with children and adults with a disability. It is about voluntary work that fits everyone's agenda. And if you do something you enjoy, it doesn't even feel like volunteering. Are you going to teach someone to ride a bicycle, teach a child to make friends or go out with an elderly lady? Or do you support a peer?
Give help around the corner in Utrecht!
Handjehelpen offers interesting training courses and lectures. This way you learn even more about volunteering.
