The Los Cachorros Foundation is committed to street children and children from high risk situations aged 8 to 18 in Ayacucho, Peru, a small town in the Andes Mountains. Often these children roam the streets because of poverty, violence or abuse at home. At Los Cachorros they can go to the night shelter or the family replacement home. Through street work, psychosocial support and education, Los Cachorros guides these children from the streets back to their families or to a future on their own two feet. From the Netherlands, the chairman, secretary, treasurer and board members for volunteers, fundraising, activities and communication work unpaid to offer the children in Ayacucho a chance for a bright future. Together they meet eight times a year in Utrecht with a video link with the director in Peru. The bookkeeping is done by a volunteer non-board member. The time investment is approximately 2 half days per month. On our website you will find more information about the work of Los Cachorros.

About Los Cachorros
On the street, the children soon come into contact with petty crime and drug use to cope with the harsh street life. Street children live in very unsanitary conditions and sexual abuse is widespread. In addition, these children are faced with rejection and marginalization on a daily basis.
Via street work, shelter, psychosocial help and education, Los Cachorros guides these children from the street back to family or to a future on their own two feet. Shelter Los Cachorros offers a safe haven, where street children can flourish into self-confident adolescents.
Personal attention and love are central. Los Cachorros ensures that the children can be children again and gives them knowledge, skills and confidence for the future!
