Engaged board member Environmental Center wanted!

The Utrecht Environmental Center (MCU) will set a new course from spring 2018. The key here is participation, in which we support organizations and residents in Utrecht that contribute with initiatives to a better climate, more sustainability and greening.

The new board and many volunteers indicate this from the MCU building:

as an information point about activities, developments, municipal policy and behavior with regard to various environmental themes via the website: Milieuwijzer Utrecht, Actief in Utrecht, Stadsmilieunieuws and the monthly newsletter;

as a breeding ground for new ideas and initiatives; a central place in the city for meeting, consultation and collaboration between groups, organizations and entrepreneurs in the field of nature, the environment and sustainability; facilitating meeting space in the center of Utrecht contributes to the exchange and generates income for MCU;

as a center of information, coordination and support for projects with regard to the aforementioned subjects in Utrecht neighbourhoods, MCU is aimed at connecting residents (organisations), partner organisations, institutions, entrepreneurs and the municipality. We started with two projects: Climate in the neighborhood and Car sharing, a project leader is working on this.

The volunteers of the Milieucentrum are involved in the provision of news and information, ICT management, coordination tasks, room rental and counter matters.

In order to support the further development of the MCU and the board, we want to start an Advisory Board in the short term that assesses the policy for positive development and provides (un)solicited advice.

Due to the desired expansion of the board, we are looking for members who preferably have several of the following qualities:

affinity, knowledge/experience with the themes and networks related to climate, sustainability and greenery;

knowledge / experience from an environmental organization / institution, politics, business;

knowledge / experience regarding finance, corporate social responsibility, communication;

knowledge / experience with regard to the interaction of a (supporting) social organization at urban and/or district level and the government;

knowledge / experience and insight with regard to developments in society in relation to the aforementioned themes.

sense of political / strategic action;

affinity with an organization run mainly by volunteers;

Given the composition of the current board, women and people with a migrant background are especially welcome.
