Volunteers m/f

Parents of seriously ill children who have been admitted to the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital (WKZ) or the Princess Màxima Center stay in the Ronald McDonald House in Utrecht. Het Huis offers parents, brothers and sisters a 'home from home' within walking distance of their sick child, brother or sister. Het Huis has 37 guest rooms spread over 2 locations: 31 rooms on the Lundlaan in Utrecht and 6 rooms on the Holle Bilt in De Bilt.

The house management is supported by a large group of volunteers. The House receives no government support and is completely dependent on gifts, donations and of course the unbridled efforts of volunteers.

The House is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year for parents whose son or daughter has been admitted to the WKZ. We are looking for enthusiastic Volunteers (m/f) to expand the occupation at the current services. You can indicate whether you want to work as a week or weekend volunteer (or a combination). The working hours are from Monday to Sunday between 09.30-21.30. These are divided into 3 shifts of 4 hours: 09:30-13:30, 13:30-17:30 and 17:30-21:30.

Job profile:

You meet the following points:

• Not afraid to 'roll up your sleeves' in terms of household tasks: cleaning the common areas, answering the phone, checking in and out of guests and giving tours.
• Stress resistant, proactive and independent
• Socially skilled
• You are hospitable, have good communication skills and are able to set limits to undesirable behaviour. You can also offer a listening ear if needed.
• Reliable and responsible
• Planning to be associated with the House for a longer period of time
• Fluent in Dutch and preferably also (some) English

Other information:

It is a voluntary position. So you do not get paid for your work. The House is also open on weekends and public holidays and there will be services even then.
