Looking for refugee buddies

Stichting Emergency Shelter for Homeless Aliens Utrecht (SNDVU) is an aid organization that offers bed, bath, bread and social-legal guidance to rejected asylum seekers. Spread over 21 houses, we receive about a hundred people who have been told that they are no longer allowed to stay in the Netherlands, but have not returned to their country of origin for various reasons. Among other things, by providing them with social-legal assistance, we work together with them on a future that offers perspective.

Given the precarious situation in which our residents find themselves, it is important to prevent them from becoming inactive and socially isolated. That is why we are looking for buddies for our residents!

As a buddy you will be linked to one of our residents who you visit regularly. You chat, go somewhere (eg market, park, et cetera). You introduce someone to the social and cultural activities in Utrecht. You provide feedback to a permanent employee if you notice any specifics. Together you look at what the client encounters or where bottlenecks are.

We ask: You are willing to meet for a few hours once a week or for 2 weeks. You are communicative, you stand firm and you show your own initiative. Affinity with the target group is a plus.

When you start working for us, you become part of a fun and motivated team of volunteers and permanent employees!
