Language coach Language & Parents
Language coaches give Dutch lessons to a group of parents who do not have Dutch as their mother tongue at various primary schools and preschools in Utrecht. After the children have been brought to class, the parents themselves go to school to improve their Dutch. As a Taalcoach Taal & Ouders you will work with the Dutch language every week, together with one group of parents.
“Being a language coach has been an enrichment for me. That you can mean so much to someone with so little. I learned a lot from the group, but I also learned from the group myself. It is an experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life.” – Lucinda, language coach Language & Parents.
What do you do as a Language Coach Language & Parents?
As a language coach you weekly supervise a group of parents at a primary school or toddler center in Utrecht. After following an introductory course, you start with the language lessons with the parents. The language lessons are focused on themes related to parenting issues and the school. Think of reading the newsletter, preparing parent meetings or a discussion about healthy food. In this way we combine language goals and content goals. You will be supervised by a voluntary coordinator with whom you regularly discuss the progress of the meetings.
What do you have at home?
– You are good at guiding and enthusing people
– You are open to new encounters
– You are eager to learn, patient and reliable
– You are available for about two hours a week
– You are willing to commit for a period of at least six months
– You are willing to develop and participate in an in-depth workshop or training.
What do you get in return?
Through your efforts you ensure that parents can participate better in Utrecht society. After all, you need language to make friends, find a job, do your banking or help your child with homework. Meaningful work with a major social impact! At the same time, you get to know other cultures, you get a lot of enthusiastic Taal Doet Meer colleagues and you can develop through various appropriate training courses.
