Garden Volunteer

The Bartholomeus Gasthuis is a modern guest house for the elderly, located in the Utrecht Museum Quarter. Approximately 100 residents live in the guest house and approximately 150 employees and just as many volunteers work.

The guest house has a beautifully landscaped courtyard garden, which residents and guests can enjoy as soon as the weather permits. You can enjoy this from the spacious terrace or walking along the flower and herb borders.

What are you going to do?

The garden is maintained several times a year by a professional landscape gardener. To support our regular garden volunteer, we are looking for someone who likes to help in the garden in the spring and summer. In this way you can let others enjoy the garden with your passion for gardening!

The work mainly consists of maintaining our courtyard and small herb garden, weeding, small pruning, watering plants, removing faded flowers, taking care of, sweeping and cleaning up the water playground and exercise garden.

Do you have green fingers and do you love to sit in the soil for hours with your hands? Then we are looking for you!

Who are we looking for?

· You have knowledge and experience (professional or hobby) with maintaining a flower garden.

· You are not afraid of physical exertion and are able to carry out some work.

· You have some skill with tools.

· You can work independently, neatly and according to plan and you are careful with materials and the environment.

· You have a positive attitude, are meticulous and keep agreements made.

· You are available in the gardening season.

What do we offer our volunteers?

• A meaningful social activity: with your help you contribute to a pleasant life for our residents and visitors to the Huis in de Wijk.
• You will be trained and substantively supervised by our caretaker.
• Once a year a festive gathering for all volunteers and an invitation to the annual name day of the Gasthuis.
• You will periodically receive the Hart voor Barth newsletter.
