Chairman of the Board of the Lauw-Recht Foundation (STIL)

STIL is a solidarity organization for refugees and migrants without a residence permit. We support rejected refugees, people in a second asylum procedure or a medical or humanitarian procedure with social-legal advice, medical support, shelter and emergency assistance.

STIL employs 6 paid employees and an average of 30 volunteers. The board of STIL consists of volunteers, they support the development of STIL's policy and executive activities and make decisions in consultation with the paid coordinator.

In connection with the departure of our current chairman, we are immediately looking for a chairman of the executive board who is willing to dedicate himself to this organization with time, vision and enthusiasm.

The board member has at least the following qualities:

• Affinity with undocumented migrants
• Agreement with STIL's mission, vision and objective
• managerial experience
• Being able to function independently
• Accurate, enterprising and has a network in Utrecht or the surrounding area
• HBO or WO work and thinking level

Job description

• Managing the board
• Prepare and chair bi-monthly board meetings and set agenda
• Monitoring the quality and continuity of (the activities of) the board and the organization
• Work towards an effective organizational structure with fellow board members and paid employees
• Representing the organization to the outside world, maintaining contacts with important authorities
• Monitoring responsibilities STIL, including the associated timelines
• Identifying and taking initiative when changes in policy are necessary
• Mediate in conflicts
• Taking on other management tasks if necessary and in consultation

Time required : 4 hours a week
