The Utrecht Library is for everyone. You can count on us for your personal development for the rest of your life. You can read, learn and inform yourself with us. We encourage you to get acquainted with literature, culture and society. With thirteen branches, the library is always close by.

Vleuten Village

In Vleuten Dorp we have a small-scale library in the town hall, an important place for local residents. A librarian is present three afternoons a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon. Volunteers are present during full opening hours, so that the branch can be fully open. It is a quiet library where regular visitors come and regularly school classes with children.

What does it mean to be a volunteer?

You are part of an enthusiastic team of volunteers and employees. Depending on the part of the day, you work together with an employee or you are alone in the location. As a hostess/host, your most important task is to make customers feel welcome in the Library. You help them with the self-service devices and the catalog. You assist in preparing transport, sorting and clearing books and other media and help to prepare the reservations.

Who are we looking for?

• You are at least 18 years old.
• You are reliable and keep promises.
• You are an ambassador of the Library and enthusiastic about reading, books and learning.
• You have a good command of the Dutch language and are computer literate.
• You have good social skills.
• You can work carefully and independently.

Time investment and availability.

• You will be trained by an experienced colleague.
• You are available half a day a week for at least six months.
• A shift is from 9am to 1pm or from 1pm to 5pm.
• We are looking for someone to complete the team for Monday and Tuesday shifts.
