Become a Volunteer at Keti Koti 2024 in Utrecht!
Are you ready to be part of something extraordinary? Seize the opportunity to make a difference at Keti Koti 2024 in Griftpark, Utrecht! We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us on June 30th, July 1st, and July 2nd. This annual event is more than just a commemoration and celebration; it's a tribute to the abolition of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, a pivotal moment in our history that must never be forgotten. Join us and help make Keti Koti 2024 an unforgettable event alongside fellow Utrechters!
Volunteer Roles
We have various roles available, catering to different interests and skills. Whether you prefer working behind the scenes, welcoming visitors, sharing information, or actively participating in activities, there's something for everyone! From coordinating backstage activities to plastering posters and capturing unforgettable moments—there's a role that suits you. You'll work no more than 6 hours, and we'll provide meals, drinks, and a fun goodie bag. Let us know where your interests lie and join our enthusiastic team! Last year, we welcomed approximately 1500 visitors and worked with a team of 40 volunteers for Keti Koti. This year, we have several roles available:
- Backstage hosts
- Visitor hosts
- Information point coordinators
- Non-food stall escorts
- Food stall escorts
- Event setup crew
- Event teardown crew
- Volunteer coordinators
- Activity Programming Guides
- Dialogue tour guides
- Clean Team
- Jack-of-all-trades
- Assistant Production Manager
- Distributors of Keti Koti flyers and information letters in the city (during June)
- Poster plasterers (during June)
- Photobooth photographer
- Social Media Heroes
Available Volunteer Shifts
- Sunday, June 30th: 08:00 - 13:30
- Sunday, June 30th: 13:30 - 20:00
- Monday, July 1st: 07:00 - 13:00 (setup)
- Monday, July 1st: 11:30 - 18:30
- Monday, July 1st: 18:00 - 00:00
- Tuesday, July 2nd: 07:00 - 12:00 (teardown)
Who Can Join?
Keti Koti is for everyone, and we welcome all volunteers. What's important to us:
- You want to raise awareness about the trans-Atlantic slave trade and have an affinity for the topic.
- You are available for a shift on June 30th, July 1st, or July 2nd.
- You enjoy learning, teamwork, and are proactive. Good communication and organizational skills are a plus.
- Participating and collaborating in a team is more important than having extensive experience.
