Coordinator Animal Buddy

We are looking for a responsible COORDINATOR for our Animal Buddy working group in the city of Utrecht. Are you very social and can you lead and organize while coaching? Then contact us quickly!

Dierenbuddy volunteers help elderly and chronically ill people who have a pet with the care of their animal and this is done at home or in the care center. This is structural help, which is given several times a week. This could include taking the dog for a long walk, changing the litter box or bird cage, taking the animal to the vet. Besides attention for the animal, there is of course also appropriate attention for the owner.

The coordinator is responsible for:

• Conducting intake interviews with candidate volunteers for Animal Buddy
• Conducting intake interviews with potential clients for Animal Buddy. This is for the elderly / chronically ill at home or in a care center
• Maintaining contact with clients and with possible family and involved care professionals e.g. elderly carers and members of social neighborhood teams
• Raids as Animal Buddy when volunteers drop out
• Organizing meetings with cluster managers and with the entire group of volunteers Animal Buddy
• Show commitment to volunteers so that they feel part of the group even though the work is done alone
• Matching the right volunteer with the right client
• Being the point of contact for both volunteers and clients
• The overall management of the Animal Buddy activity

All of this is done in continuous coordination with and with the support of the Intake and Coordination Manager of the Animal Protection Northwest region

You have:

• Excellent social and communication skills
• The necessary knowledge of animals and their behavior
• Experience in working with the elderly and the chronically ill
• The necessary life experience and human knowledge / intuition
• Managerial qualities and experience in coordinating / organizing
• Adequate computer and smartphone skills

Time commitment:

This very responsible voluntary position will take a lot of time. On average 15 - 20 hours a week. (can also include evenings or weekends) An absolute requirement is living in Utrecht itself. It may be possible to consider a duo coordinatorship.
