Background: the Environmental Center Utrecht (MCU) is going to publicize more with its vision, plans and projects

Utrecht is a fast-growing city with great ambitions in the field of sustainability. The Environmental Center Utrecht believes that a healthy and sustainable future for Utrecht is only possible if it is supported by residents. We create a sustainable and healthy city together. That is why we make connections between residents, partner organisations, institutions, entrepreneurs and the municipality. We support and guide good ideas from residents, combined with specific information and education, such as the environmental guide, newsletter and green agenda. We want to be an open and recognizable center of knowledge, information, exchange, participation and co-production of practical examples in the field of nature, the environment and sustainability.

For a green, healthy and sustainable future of Utrecht, we focus on the themes that play a role in our city, such as energy, accessibility, greenery, reuse, etc. With all our activities, we, volunteers and employees (approx. 45 people), aim to: make an essential contribution to the quality of life in our busy and beautiful city.

What will you do as a coordinator?

Meanwhile, the communication group has grown into a group of 10 volunteers with diverse backgrounds and knowledge of communication. For example, there are volunteers who are still completing their communication training and volunteers with a paid job, who are happy to make their knowledge and skills available. In addition to these two categories, many people pick up a piece of work in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedln), newsletters, messages on the website, agenda, press releases and interviews. The MCU initiates a number of projects in the city and province that can only succeed if there is a team of PR volunteers around it. All of this also requires coordination of group communications in order to respond efficiently and effectively to activities within and outside the MCU. In order to give shape to this coordination, a communication coordinator is sought who directs and is the pivot of a group with a joint mission. To shape this, we consider the following tasks:

• Coordination of the activities with the board, the information and information group and the project leader
• Managing news items on our website, making flyers, etc
• Monitor social media channels
• Managing publicity in local off- and online media
• Monitor press releases
• Establishing and maintaining contacts with potential cooperation partners
• Do you have new plans of your own? Then we are very open to this!

We ask:

• A volunteer who has an overall knowledge of communication. A connector with inspiring qualities to manage such a large group and forge it into a dynamic whole.
• Available at least two half-days per week (flexible) for at least one year
