Project Managers Renewal (voluntary position)

Who are we?

SIW is a versatile Dutch non-profit exchange organization (NGO). For more than 65 years, SIW has been hosting foreign volunteers on various projects in the Netherlands and Dutch volunteers are sent to projects all over the world. In total, this concerns approximately 250 broadcasts and receipts per year. SIW is part of three international networks (Alliance, CCIVS and SCI).

SIW's mission is to encourage people to broaden their horizons. SIW does this by bringing volunteers into contact with other cultures. In this way, SIW wants to increase intercultural understanding, contribute to the personal development of volunteers and encourage them to dedicate themselves to a better society “For and by volunteers”.

The activities of SIW are organized by approximately 75 enthusiastic voluntary employees supported by an office in the heart of Utrecht.

What are you going to do?

Motivated by changes in the demand for broadcasts and reinforced by the corona crisis, SIW is committed to a number of innovations in order to enable SIW to continue to meet the changing broadcast demand in the coming years, while at the same time keeping it organisationally and financially healthy. Initiated and supervised by the board, SIW will go through this process together with its volunteer employees, but we are also looking for volunteer employees who further develop a specific innovation on a project basis, convert it into a new offer and then implement it. There are already concrete ideas for innovations as formulated in our policy plan for 2021, including a possible concentration on European broadcasts, more work with disadvantaged groups, 'Destination Unknown', language travel, etc. The goal is to develop and implement four innovations as projects before the summer of 2021. When the innovations prove to work, they will be incorporated into the existing organization.

The Project Manager Renewal position is new within SIW, but at the same time a great challenge. You will work closely with one of the board members and other volunteer employees who are interested in this. Together with them and with the other teams within SIW you know how to respond to trends and convert them into an interesting new offer.

Who are you?

You are enthusiastic about the projects, objectives and mission of SIW;

You have thought up and developed a new activity before, and you enjoy organizing such a renewal project;

You are innovative and open to new ideas;

You are proactive and have good communication skills and see it as a challenge to work with different people;

Volunteer experience abroad is an advantage;

You also help to promote SIW to potential participants, for example on information days / evenings, at trade fairs, school meetings and / or on social media;

You intend to dedicate yourself to this position on a project basis for at least 6 months (on average 4 - 8 hours per week, including an occasional evening to attend a working group meeting);

You preferably live in the Utrecht area;

Young people and people with a multicultural background are explicitly invited to apply.
