Writers wanted to tell the story of our clients

STIL is a solidarity organization for people without a residence permit. For over 20 years we have been helping refugees and other migrants without a right of residence in the Netherlands on legal, medical and social matters.

Most of the people who come to STIL ended up on the street from the AZC. They are not entitled to reception and other facilities. We do our best to help everyone, but our options are very limited. As a result, we have to send most people back to the streets.

The discussion about childcare is all about numbers and rules, which makes us forget that this is about people. We want to give these people a face, tell their story, in the hope that this will contribute to a different way of looking at these problems. By making humanity visible, we hope to initiate a movement from exclusion to inclusion.

We want to do this through a weekly blog. Every week we tell the story of a STIL client. Two things are central to this. On the one hand, the strength and potential of the people involved and, on the other hand, the influence that the system in which people are trapped has on this. How forced homelessness makes people vulnerable and powerless and how shelter and good guidance can empower people again.

We want to tell these stories not only in words, but also in images. That is why we want to be able to place a photo or drawing with each blog that depicts the story, the personality, the situation of the person concerned.

In order to regularly post stories on our blog, we are looking for several people who would like to periodically interview clients and tell their story. You do the interview together with the person who will make an image for the story.
