About De Schalm, Sociaal-Cultureel Centrum de Meern

De Schalm is a Social-Cultural Center located in the old core of De Meern. For almost 50 years, De Schalm has wanted to maintain culture and well-being for all residents, young and old, of De Meern and the surrounding area.

We try to achieve our goal by organizing, or providing the opportunity for, social, cultural and recreational activities in or from our center. Think of theatre, discos, dance lessons and music performances such as the Jazzcafé. We also offer various meeting times for residents.

All this is done in a way that suits a cozy and homely community center, with an authentic Meern look. The board wants every visitor to feel completely welcome and at home in De Schalm.

About 80 active volunteers, 6 paid employees and the voluntary board together ensure that De Schalm can continue to run, and that we have again been able to welcome about 60,000 visitors in 2019!
