Cluster responsible for the DUO project in the municipality of Utrecht

Do you like pets and do you like doing something for the elderly / chronically ill? Then the Animal Protection Agency is looking for you through the 'Animals & Elderly' project (DUO)!

DUO volunteers help elderly / chronically ill people who own a pet to take care of their animal. This may include walking the dog, changing the litter box, taking the animal to the vet or changing the bird cage and associated care. It is very rewarding work, but it is not always easy. As a volunteer, in addition to the care, you have an important signaling role whether the animal and its owner in need of help are still doing well. The target group are the elderly and chronically ill with a limited social network and limited financial resources. Purpose of DUO: to let people and animals stay together as long as possible!

As a volunteer you have to know how to deal with owners and their (often old) animals. There are owners who live in nursing homes, but also elderly / chronically ill people living independently sometimes call on our help, both in Utrecht and in some surrounding municipalities.

We are looking for:

Cluster Responsibles

A small team (cluster) of volunteers is active per client. They come to the client's home individually on different days to give the pet the right care. The cluster manager coordinates this small team and co-executes it with them. The cluster manager maintains direct contact with one or more clients and if necessary. their (care) supervisors and is the first point of contact for the small team. In addition, the cluster manager regularly informs the coordinator of the DUO project about the status of the clients.

You have:

- a down-to-earth and patient attitude

- sense of responsibility

- good social and communication skills-affinity with animals & humans

Time commitment

For each group app you keep in touch with the volunteers from your team. In addition, you visit the owners and their pets approximately once a month. This happens in addition to the day that you are scheduled for an animal. If necessary, get in touch with a client's contact person to discuss the situation with them.

In addition, you ensure direct contact with the coordinator and monitor the welfare of the animal and its owner.
