Who are we?

SIW is a versatile Dutch non-profit exchange organization (NGO). For 65 years, SIW has been hosting foreign volunteers on various projects in the Netherlands and Dutch volunteers are sent to projects all over the world. In total, this concerns approximately 250 broadcasts and receipts per year. SIW is part of three international networks (Alliance, CCIVS and SCI).

SIW's mission is to encourage people to broaden their horizons. SIW does this by bringing volunteers into contact with other cultures. In this way, SIW wants to increase intercultural understanding, contribute to the personal development of volunteers and encourage them to dedicate themselves to a better society “For and by volunteers”.

SIW's activities are organized by approximately 70 enthusiastic voluntary employees. The board of SIW currently consists of 8 members and is jointly responsible for the entire organization. Each board member has his / her own portfolio for which he / she is responsible.

What are you going to do?

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is part of the Erasmus + program of the European Union (EU). Money has been made available from the EU to give young people the opportunity to do voluntary work in another European country for a while. As SIW, we both send Dutch young people abroad and we receive foreign young people on projects in the Netherlands. As a board member of the ESC you are primarily responsible for the management and coaching of the ESC team and the division of tasks. You keep an overview of the activities and ensure a good composition and atmosphere in the group. You prepare meetings and you coordinate the preparation and evaluation of participants. You are also the link between the employees in the ESC team and other teams within SIW. You represent the ESC team on the Board and to the Netherlands Youth Institute (NJI) which acts as subsidy provider.

Who are you?

You are enthusiastic about the projects, objectives and mission of SIW;

· (Voluntary) work experience in Europe and / or experience with the European Solidarity Corps or the former European Voluntary Service program is a plus;

You have the ambition to hold a board position and / or experience therein;

You have experience in coordinating and managing teams. You can organize and you like to monitor the overview and cooperation;

You are proactive, you know how to stimulate and motivate volunteers;

You have good communication skills and see it as a challenge to work with different people;

You do not shy away from administrative work and you can work accurately;

You are willing to set aside approximately 8 - 10 hours per week for SIW, including 2 evenings per month for the team consultation and the board meeting;

You also help to promote SIW to potential participants, for example on information days / evenings, at trade fairs, school meetings and / or on social media;

You preferably live in the vicinity of Utrecht;

You are willing to commit to this position for at least two years at SIW;

Young people, women and people with a multicultural background and / or involved in the education of young people are explicitly invited to apply in order to form as diverse a board as possible.
