Language & Parents Coordinator

Language coaches give Dutch lessons to a group of parents who do not have Dutch as their mother tongue at various primary schools and preschools in Utrecht. After the children have been brought to class, the parents themselves go to school to improve their Dutch. As Language & Parents Coordinator, you supervise three groups of parents and their language coaches who are working on the Dutch language.

What do you do as a coordinator in the Language & Parents project?

As a coordinator, you supervise three groups of parents and their language coaches at primary schools or preschools in Utrecht. After you have been trained, you start with the guidance. You conduct introductory meetings with the participants. You see what they want to learn and whether Taal & Ouders is the right place. The group is then linked to a language coach, who teaches the parents weekly. You are present at the first lesson. From then on you are there to answer questions from the language coaches, the school and the parents. You also deal with the development of the parents: what else do they want to learn? What is their motivation? And where can they go?

What do you have at home?

- You are good at guiding and enthusing people

-You are open to new encounters

- You are organized and like to have contact with different parties

-You are patient and reliable

- You are available for about four hours a week, during school hours

-You are willing to commit for a period of at least one school year

-You are willing to develop and participate in an in-depth workshop or training.

What do you get in return?

Through your efforts you ensure that parents can participate better in Utrecht society. After all, you need language to make friends, find a job, do your banking or help your child with homework.
