Summary
Do you want to help people to arrange things more independently by teaching them digital skills? Then we are looking for you!Detailed description
Order something quickly, transfer money, keep in touch with your children's school, send an e-mail or look up information; these are things that most people (have to) go on the internet for these days. Yet many people in the Netherlands have difficulty with this, because they have learned little or no digital skills and/or because of a language barrier.
The mission of Digiwijs 3.0 is to help people participate in society and increase their self-confidence and self-reliance. That is why we support and guide the improvement of digital skills. We do this through low-threshold computer courses, at various locations in the city of Utrecht. This opens the door to independently arranging digital matters and it provides access to a larger social network.
Current situation
In recent months, we have shut down the courses for a period, due to the measures surrounding COVID. We will start the courses again in September 2021. A basic course lasts 15 weeks and courses on various themes, for example on video calling, last 3 to 5 weeks.
What are you going to do?
As a volunteer you help our students learn digital (basic) skills. The learning questions of the participants are very diverse. One wants to learn (better) how to use a tablet, while the other wants to master the use of the mouse.
Part of the target group still has difficulty with the Dutch language, so an affinity with language can come in handy.
There are various courses in Kanaleneiland, Zuilen, Shallow, Lunetten, Hoograven, Overvecht and Leidsche Rijn.
Who are we looking for?
- You have affinity with the target group
- You like to explain to a group, it is an advantage if you already have experience teaching the target group
- You are independent and you feel like guiding a group of about 6 students after a training period
- You have knowledge of the computer or of several software packages
- You also enjoy working with other volunteers
- You can think creatively about how to use the available material
- You have patience and can give people confidence to continue learning
- You are available for a few hours every week (we will coordinate this in consultation), preferably for a longer period
Do you think that your groups of students can explain the basic skills and do you want to make people enthusiastic about this? Then we would like to hear from you soon!
What do we offer?
- A starter training to help you on your way. This training consists of two training evenings, the date is still to be determined
- The opportunity to learn on the job
- A committed team of volunteers and professionals
- A challenging volunteer position with many social contacts
- Coaching and training to develop more (didactic) skills
- The opportunity to contribute to the development of the course
- A volunteer fee for your efforts
- A nice addition to your resume

Computers are useful if you can do something with them. Not everyone is that handy. Digiwijs 3.0 helps anyone who has little or no use for computers and the internet.
Digiwijs 3.0 is a project of WIJ 3.0, an all-round organization for the activation of vulnerable people and reintegration into training or work.
In a course of Digiwijs 3.0 people learn to work with a computer. You can go to the practice walk-in to practice yourself. And in the theme lessons we focus on a certain aspect of computing.
