Summary
Do you like cycling & teaching and are you interested to work with newcomers or refugees? Then apply as a cycling teacher!Detailed description
"Cycling is healthy and I like that I can now easily get to work on time" (participant Yamina, 2020)
Utrecht is a real cycling city, but for those who are new to the city, cycling traffic can be quite challenging. That is why we offer cycling lessons for newcomers so that they too can experience the benefits of cycling. We teach them practical cycling skills and knowledge of traffic rules. This makes both their self-confidence and their world a lot bigger!
Small steps, big leaps
During cycling lessons we teach participants to cycle independently. We do this using a simple method, in small steps. After a short teacher training, you will quickly master these steps. Because the steps are small, it is easy to continue developing. This way our participants make great leaps forward within the course.
Starting in September and March
We give a 10-week series of lessons twice a year from various Utrecht community centers and azc's (asylum seeker centers). These series start in September and March. Our teacher training is offered before the start of a series of lessons. You can also join the cycling lessons halfway in and have the training later.
The cycling lesson are done by 2 or more volunteers and all the necessary materials are available at the location.
