At the Weerdsingel shelter, we provide accommodation for up to 20 people who do not have legal residency in the Netherlands. As a volunteer, you play a crucial role in offering a safe space for this vulnerable group who have nowhere else to turn.
What will you do?
You will work night shifts from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. You sleep in a work/sleep room and have access to a shower. During your shift, you work independently, but you can always reach someone by phone in case of emergency. Although it doesn’t happen often, a resident may need you during the night. You will be the point of contact and ensure that the situation is handled calmly.
What do we ask from you?
- You are 18 years or older
- You are available at least twice a month
- You are comfortable interacting with people from different backgrounds
- You are confident, can adapt quickly, and stay calm in stressful situations
- You are a strong communicator and enjoy working with others
- You are proactive and take responsibility when needed
- Knowledge of different languages is a plus

About 500 volunteers and about 450 paid employees work at the Intermediate Facility.
