Summary
Mentoring program that links volunteers to children/young people in a vulnerable situation, aged 6 to 18, who grow up in low-income families.Detailed description
We are looking for committed volunteers from the age of 21 who, after training, undertake fun activities for at least 1 year with a child or young person (6-18 years) from a minimal family for at least 1 hour per week. One-to-one attention is central and the emphasis is on broadening horizons and the development of social skills, talents and qualities. As a piglet you can go out with your little one through the neighborhood and the city, to a playground or museum or petting zoo, but you can also do crafts, cook and bake together, read, write stories or poems, draw and paint, play games, do homework. make at home and so on. In this way you work together in a playful way on the development of 'your' little, which strengthens his/her future perspective. You can really (and it has been proven) make a difference! That is why your role as a volunteer within our program is of great value and significance. We provide two training courses, evaluations, supervision and intervision, so that you can get started as well as possible!
You can sign up as a volunteer on our website.
When you register (an email will be sent with a short registration form in it) you will be contacted by one of our match coordinators.

🤝 Extra supportAbout Big Friends Utrecht
The program means that a volunteer does something with the child for at least 1 hour per week for at least 1 year that contributes to his / her development.
We are looking for committed adults (21+) who want to make a positive contribution to the quality of life and development of a child who is in a vulnerable situation. The volunteer undertakes weekly activities with the child that both enjoy, such as e.g. exercise together, play a game, craft, go to the playground or a museum. Volunteers are thoroughly screened in advance and receive training and guidance by expert employees, so that the match between child and volunteer is successful.
So: Do you like children and do you enjoy doing something with a child once a week as a buddy? So that there is 1-on1 attention for the child, a bond of friendship arises, and you as a volunteer increase the world of the child! How useful is that? You will be well prepared and guided by training from professionals.
