Our mission is to connect generations. We do this by linking people over 55 to primary schools in their own neighbourhood. Are you looking for fun, varied volunteer work? Then Leergaloos might be something for you!
For the children you are the extra teacher from day 1 who helps them in small groups or individually with their reading and/or math skills. For the children this means extra attention for something that is a challenge for them. Learning with great pleasure from and with each other, that is what the Leergaloos volunteers experience. Or as they say themselves: no day is the same!
We are looking for volunteers for various schools in Utrecht who like to help children in the upper years with extra reading, language and/or math exercises.

The volunteer provides structural support to the teacher. The school offers the senior a fun and meaningful volunteer position. The senior does not teach: he or she helps in the classroom. The teacher indicates what kind of support he or she is looking for. The senior also indicates what kind of activity he or she wants to help with. This varies from reading to helping with crafts or in the vegetable garden. Leergaloos makes an inventory and makes the right match.
