Volunteer medical consultation STIL

It is a consultation hour for people without a residence permit, many of whom came to the Netherlands as refugees. They cannot insure themselves against medical expenses, but they are entitled to medically necessary care. Part of this can be reimbursed through a scheme.

Tasks

As a volunteer you will speak to people with a medical request, inform them about rights and possibilities to receive medical care. You also inform care providers about the situation of these people, their rights and the possibility of being reimbursed for certain care.

You help people make medical appointments or explain how they can do this themselves. You mediate if care is refused.

Minimum requested: Presence from 9am-12pm Wednesdays

We would like you to stay after office hours (from 9-11 a.m.) until 2 p.m. to perform some tasks. If that does not work, you would like to participate in the medical consultation until 12 noon, where tasks are divided and decisions are made.

We keep enough distance and apply some corona guidelines at the office.

What do we ask of you?

You do not need to have medical knowledge. You do have to stand firm, be stress resistant, be able to communicate respectfully and patiently, sometimes with hands and feet.

It is an advantage if you speak French, English and/or Arabic (or other languages). We often work with volunteer interpreters.

You must also be able to work with a computer.
